Job Advert

We are keen to employ a diverse workforce that reflects the people of Scotland. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly from groups currently under-represented, including people with disabilities, those from minority ethnic communities or from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds

West Lothian Council are committed to far reaching changes to the way we deliver our Education Services. These changes include giving you the support and environment that you need to get on with your job and develop your abilities. Our dedication is demonstrated by the whole council achievement of the Investors in People Standard and always aiming a little higher in our service delivery and improvements.

A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Bellsquarry Team. Bellsquarry Primary School and Early Learning Centre is non-denominational serving the Bellsquarry and Murieston area of Livingston. It is part of The James Young High School Cluster. The school roll is currently 225 learners, organised over 8 classes, as well as 36 children across the various sessions in the ELC.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic practitioner who as Principal Teacher, will work together with the Head Teacher and whole school community to ensure the highest quality education for our children.

The school works closely in partnership with parents/carers and the wider community. It benefits from a supportive and proactive Parent Teacher Action Group (PTAG) that helps to enhance the experiences of the children and raise funds for a range of additional resources.

Our school values of Relationships, Respect, Support and Adaptability encourage learners to have confidence in their skills, abilities and ideas, the resilience to persevere and the determination to succeed in their learning. We encourage children to understand, respect and value the different cultures and backgrounds that enrich our school and its community.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.

The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18.
