The International Centre for Life is a thriving science hub in the heart of Newcastle. Its purpose is to inspire everyone to explore and enjoy science and to provide a world class science hub where life enhancing engagement, research and clinical treatment can thrive. Life is home to NHS clinics as well as scientists and researchers from Newcastle University. Life Science Centre is at the heart of this ‘circle of science’ and aspires to be most accessible and inclusive visitor attraction in the UK. It has an international reputation for its work in sensory engagement.

We are looking for enthusiastic, customer focused people to join us as Hosts. As part of the visitor experience team, you will help provide a welcoming, exciting and memorable experience for all visitors to the centre, including families and schools. The science centre is a busy venue, with hands-on exhibitions, live shows, experiments and making activities, plus our popular cafes and gift shop. Duties are varied and include welcoming and helping visitors in the centre, selling tickets and serving in our food and drink areas.

The successful candidates will be confident, well organised and team players, ideally with previous customer focused experience. As the venue is open 7 days a week with occasional evening events, a flexible approach to cover various shift patterns is essential, including weekends.

Previous experience in catering, on reception or working with children would be an advantage.

The successful applicants will be subject to DBS checks. Details of our DBS policy are available on request. For further information regarding this post, please refer to the job description and person specification on our website.
