Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic specialist who can train and develop Permitting Support Advisors, to ensure quality work is delivered. You will support your team and peers to arrive at effective outcomes for our customers and continually review how we deliver these outcomes. You’ll contribute to the Environment Agency’s vision of creating a better place for people and wildlife by helping to regulate low risk activities.

In the role you will:
· Individually and collaboratively identify training gaps, plan and deliver sessions to advisors, implement new processes, improve development needs and increase business resilience
· Complete consolidation sessions with advisors to assess the impact of training delivered, ensuring acceptable standards in quality
· Coach team members and provide ongoing support to ensure they have the knowledge, skills and ability to achieve targets and deliver a service
· Continually review and develop the instructional materials and resources that are in place to support your teams’ performance and keep our processes efficient
· Work effectively with your peer group to identify, share and deliver best practice across IPS
· Build and maintain the delivery of excellent customer service throughout all our services
· Plan, manage and prioritise your workload consistently to deliver tasks within set timeframes, linking this to the needs of the team
· Manage and own your development to ensure you have the skills and knowledge to support, train and coach the team

The team
Environmental permits cover activities that could pollute the air, water, or land, increase flood risk, or adversely affect land drainage.
Permitting has 450 staff determining permits. You will be working within our Integrated Permitting Services Team based in Sheffield. This team has a strong customer focus and are essential in providing a range of administrative services to support the rest of Permitting and deliver fast paced outcomes for customers.
Experience/skills required
We’re looking for people that have demonstrated these skills:
• Managing your own time and workload and meeting performance targets related to you and your team
• Being able to make and justify informed, timely decisions
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with your team and peer group
• IT skills including experience of working with data, managing information and using tools like Word, Excel and specialist digital tools relevant to your job
• Be able to build relationships and develop people to achieve their potential
• Ability to coach, train, and mentor team members to improve team performance.
• Identify and escalate any issues through your manager or other identified method
• Ensure data and information is handled correctly and accurately
