Summary
What skills and experience we're looking for
Mangotsfield School is excited to be recruiting for a science teacher to join our successful, collaborative and supportive faculty. If you have the desire to make a positive impact on young children and want to join a team of dedicated staff, then we would love to hear from you. We are open to both part time and full time candidates. This role would be ideal for an ECT ready to join their first school, or a more experienced practitioner.
This role is permanent and will initially be working as a member of the Science department at Mangotsfield School for 25/26. Following review of curriculum needs for the following academic year, you may be asked to move across to another one of our family of secondary schools within our Trust. Details of all of our schools can be found on our CSET website.
About the Role
Having received a rating of Good from Ofsted at our last inspection, you will be joining us on our journey to ensuring that Mangotsfield is an ever improving school that lies at the heart of a close knit community.
The science department has an ambitious, well sequenced and knowledge led curriculum which both supports and challenges students throughout. The team have collaboratively written a successful curriculum which is delivered throughout. The core elements include retrieval, diagnostic questions, deliberate practice and metacognition. Our key stage three curriculum develops knowledge and skills which support students through either triple or combined science at GCSE.
We pride ourselves on our CPD support, both at school and Trust level. We also have a central Trust education team who support and deliver high quality training. In addition, we deliver comprehensive ECT induction in association with the Five Counties Teaching Schools Hubs Alliance and Ambition Institute.
What the school offers its staff
Why join us?
Mangotsfield School has been recognised by Ofsted as a “rapidly improving, community focused, ambitious school.” In March 2022 we were awarded Good in all categories, a testament to the vision and dedication of the leadership and teaching body.

Our classrooms, our corridors and our systems are built on these values: this supports our culture where we can meet individual needs and close the gaps for our students.
Mangotsfield School is a local secondary school firmly rooted in, and proudly working within, the community which it serves. The school is situated in pleasant semi-rural surroundings on the north-eastern outskirts of Bristol. Mangotsfield School became an academy as part of the Castle School Education Trust in September 2015 and works in partnership with Downend School to deliver 16-19 opportunities for all students. We are committed to the professional development of all staff.
We can offer you:
• Commitment to CPD and development of all staff
• Commitment to inclusivity and fostering of diversity
• Values and vision that are lived not laminated
• Open and honest culture
• Up to 30% discount with Microsoft & Dell
• Discounted gym membership
• Life Assurance - 3 x Death in Service
• Cycle to work scheme
• Dedicated counselling service
