Summary
What skills and experience we're looking for
We are excited to be able to offer an opportunity for an inspiring teacher of mathematics to join a team of dedicated, reflective practitioners as second in the maths curriculum area. We are proud to say that our recent OFSTED inspection in 2025 cited that the school remains a 'Good' school, identifying how the school is an 'inclusive school' where “Pupils achieve highly, as reflected in published outcomes” and “ Pupils are happy and feel safe in school. They behave well in lessons and around the school site.” We value our staff highly, and have established a truly supportive environment where staff training and well being is at the heart of all we do.
Pittville Maths Department is a key partner of the GLOW Maths Hub and the successful candidate will be joining an experienced, successful and well-motivated team who have high expectations of all students they teach. An ability to work well in a team and demonstrate a dynamic, innovative and inspirational approach to teaching and learning is essential. The successful candidate will:
• Support the curriculum leader with the development of a maths curriculum with a specific responsibility for KS4 that supports teaching for a secure and deep understanding of mathematics
• Support the curriculum leader to challenge individuals whilst supporting them to achieve outstanding results
• Support the curriculum leader with line management of the maths team
• have a passion for securing the foundations for all students and be a champion of our #YesUCan ethos that is embedded into the department
• have the ability to lead and co-ordinate collaborative planning and staff development
• have the desire, knowledge and skills to motivate staff and students to raise attainment and achievement across the maths curriculum and age range
• further build relationships with our local primary schools and coordinate transition activities
• have the ability to teach across all age and prior attainments levels with a possibility of teaching level 2 further maths if this is of interest
What the school offers its staff
As a school we will commit to your future professional development. We offer a training program to all new staff as well as our own INSET program. We are part of a Teaching School Partnership which offers a range of development programs. This runs alongside the usual provision of courses, school visits, and local partnerships.
Commitment to safeguarding
Pittville School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post including checks with past employers, social media checks and the Disclosure and Barring Service. All offers of appointment are subject to satisfactory references and DBS clearance. It is an offence to apply for the role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity with children.
