Summary

Whether you’re newly qualified looking for your first supportive role, or an experienced nurse looking for a change, we have the perfect opportunity for you!

The Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) at Wythenshawe Hospital are looking for highly motivated, innovative and experienced nurses to join our dynamic team.

AMU is a 56 bedded unit divided into two areas, Acute Medical and Short Stay Medical. SDEC is a seated unit with trolley assessment areas. Staff will be afforded the opportunity to rotate between both units.

You will be given dedicated time to learn and develop your own skills by working alongside our highly experienced Clinical Educator. This role is set up to offer a ward specific preceptorship and training program for all new starters and enables us to provide you with an excellent induction, support with re-validation and on going training package. Working within these units is both exciting and challenging. We work closely with our new state of the art Emergency Department caring for a diverse group of acutely unwell medical patients, with Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Gastroenterology and Chronic health conditions. Staff are also exposed to managing patients with a higher acuity within the unit, and as such we work closely with the Critical Care Outreach team and provide 8 cardiac telemetry beds across the unit for close monitoring.

The post holder will assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of patient care in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner. Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process. Act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff, with specific responsibility for pre-registration students.

The post holder will take delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical team and the maintenance of high standards of quality patient care on a shift basis.
