Summary
The role
We're seeking a Payroll Manager to join our People Team. In this position, you'll lead a payroll team of five and work closely with HR and Finance to handle payroll for over 2,000 employees. You'll ensure timely monthly payroll processing, including statutory payments and compliance.
Our People team office is based at our Commercial Hub in Rugby, Northampton (NN6 7XR).
Payroll Manager responsibilities include:
- Managing a payroll team of five, liaising closely with HR and the Finance department to resolve any queries.
- You will be overseeing and managing a payroll volume for 2000+ employees, across multiple sites.
- Oversee hotels monthly payroll and ensure deadlines are met by the team; inputting changes as well as ensuring SSP, SMP, SPP, Tax, NI, P45, P11D, P60 (this is not an exhaustive list) are completed.
- Be the payroll expert and resolve all payroll related queries in line with company procedures and legal requirements.
- Overseeing the full monthly payroll process and RTI submission whilst continually working to streamline all payroll processes, working with the operational teams
- Central management of benefits such as pensions, childcare vouchers, TRONC, company cars and private health care and looking for ways to improve and develop these benefits.
- Managing the update of policies and procedures and ensuring Standard Payroll Operating Procedures are appropriate and sufficient and continually reviewed.
- Completing monthly / annual reports as required such as annual PSA reporting, P11d(b) and Gender Pay Gap Reporting.
- Collaborate actively with other members of the wider People team to ensure a cohesive approach for all HR activity.
What you’ll bring to the team
To be successful in this role, you must have;
- Previous payroll management experience – experience of managing a payroll function with end-to-end payroll and a team is essential
- A keen and analytical mind, and a genuine enthusiasm for the role
- A strong team attitude
- Strong interpersonal skills
- You will be an effective communicator, with the ability to develop relationships with stakeholders across the business and externally with our suppliers.
