Summary
An exciting opportunity has arose for a motivated individual to join the Redbridge 0-19 Health Improvement Team - working primarily with 0-1yrs, supporting families with their feeding journey. Whilst also supporting the Healthy Weight/Healthy Lifestyle team with things such as Introduction to Solids, Healthy Weight sessions, National Child Measurement Programme.
The successful candidate will be working across the borough of Redbridge, supporting a diverse population. There will be close links with the Health visiting and School Nursing team, as well as childrens centres, midwives, GPs, childrens social care and the wider NELFT health teams.
· To work as a member of the 0-19 Universal Health team to provide a comprehensive, effective and culturally sensitive service to clients to deliver the Healthy Child Programme.
· To support the delivery of education sessions focusing on the 6 High Impact areas in key times which follows a life course approach starting from breastfeeding and promoting healthy weights and healthy eating habits within the 0-19 population.
· To support the development, in partnership, of specific programmes to promote behavioural changes for children and their families to support healthier lifestyles.
· With support of the 0-19 service to develop a whole family approach which enables families and children to make healthier lifestyle choices and empowers them to access information and support.
· To give telephone support, advice and information to families to support them to make healthy choices.
· To take a key role in supporting starting solid food groups and accessing clients through breastfeeding groups, clinics and children’s centres.
· To understand the barriers to making healthy choices and be able to support families to manage these in either a group setting or 1-2-1.
· To support health promotion activities within the team to raise awareness of the risks of obesity and to advise on healthy eating.
· To participate in activities as directed by the Team Lead or Operational Lead to promote healthy eating.
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High-Cost Area Supplement
This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735)pro rata for part time staff.
