Summary
Corporate and Delivery Directorate works closely with the Home Office’s policy and operational commands to enable us together to deliver the department’s priorities. The directorate is comprised of different teams and professional functions, including Commercial, Finance, People, Portfolio and Project Delivery, Security, Estates and Information and Digital, Data and Technology.
The Home Office has one of the most challenging and critical jobs in Whitehall: to keep Britain safe, secure our Borders and protect the vulnerable. We operate at the heart of the Government's agenda, leading on immigration and passports, drugs policy, crime policy, counter-extremism and counter-terrorism and state threats, and work to ensure visible, responsive and accountable policing in the UK. The challenges the Department faces are significant and can change rapidly in the global environment in which we operate, making this one of the most exciting and stimulating Government Departments in which to work.
The Home Office Health, Safety and Fire Management Team provides professional health and safety policy, guidance, advice, expertise and support to approximately 51,000 Home Office staff based around the globe. The risk profile of roles in the Home Office means we are looking for someone who has the ability to think innovatively and test normal understanding of risk and compliance.
This team works strategically to drive business improvement in health, safety and fire management through staff champions, networks and business leads, promoting approaches including leadership capability development, stress risk assessment, education and campaigns, and evaluating impact through MI and health and safety audits.
In terms of fire safety, the Home Office has a significant and complex portfolio of properties including high and medium risk premises. Our high-risk premises are over 18m high or 6 storeys, include overnight accommodation and/or cells and have areas that are public facing.
The Fire Safety Strategy Lead is a brand-new role that will sit in the central People Health, Safety and Fire Management Team. The successful candidate will be a key driver in building a best practice fire safety management system across the Home Office.
