Summary
PE Teacher - Independent SEN School
Prospero Teaching are currently recruiting for an engaging and passionate PE Teacher to join a well-established Independent Special Educational Needs (SEN) School located in Christchurch, Dorset.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dedicated provision that supports young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom have experienced barriers to learning in mainstream settings.
You will be joining a highly skilled team committed to making a lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable pupils by delivering a dynamic and inclusive PE curriculum. The school focuses on both academic progress and emotional development, offering a supportive environment and small class sizes.
As a PE Teacher, you will have the chance to deliver both practical and theory-based lessons, with access to excellent facilities and resources to support active learning and personal development.
Contract Details for PE Teacher:

- Position: PE Teacher
- Type of work: Teaching PE to SEN students with SEMH needs
- Start date: September 2025
- Contract type: Temp to Perm / Long-term
- Full-time/Part-time: Full-Time
- Minimum rate of pay: From £162.31 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)
Experience, Training and Qualifications for PE Teacher role:
- QTS or QTLS required
- Experience teaching PE at secondary level (KS3/KS4), ideally within an SEN or SEMH environment
- Understanding of trauma-informed and attachment-aware approaches
- Excellent behaviour management skills and a proactive, resilient attitude
- A genuine passion for promoting physical education as a tool for engagement and growth
- Degree in Physical Education or relevant subject area
- Additional qualifications in sports coaching (Level 2+) are highly desirable
To be eligible to work as a PE Teacher through Prospero Teaching, you must:
- Hold the Right to Work in the UK
- Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for a new one
- Provide two professional child-related references
