What you’ll do

In this role, you will be responsible for managing a book of ultra high net worth clients on an advisory and bespoke discretionary basis. You will be expected to use your experience in this space to help develop a proposition that caters to this client group, including family offices and institutional clients. As the Coutts investment proposition evolves, we will expect you to adapt, influence and take ownership of this evolution, facing off to internal stakeholders and to clients..

We’ll expect you to present the business’ investment house view and strategy at internal and external public events. You’ll also be responsible for the department’s ability to respond and react to client-servicing demands while supporting capacity and contingency planning.

You’ll also be responsible for:

  • Being accountable for meeting business objectives, winning new and retaining existing criteria clients in line with the business’ investment philosophy and policies
  • Managing a focused book of Ultra High Net Worth individuals, the largest Coutts clients, typically at £10 million+, in line with right client right advisor principles
  • Allocating portfolio managers to relevant business opportunities, delivering alongside wealth managers in the sale of suitable investment products and services
  • Ensuring portfolio managers have all necessary client, market or product information required in their role while representing the voice of the client in client journey changes
  • Maintaining and developing knowledge of relevant investment management techniques, disciplines, and skillsets in order to provide appropriate services to clients
  • Representing Client Investment Management (“CIM”) at internal forums and working groups to ensure products and services are developed with a client lens, playing a key role in shaping our future proposition

The skills you’ll need

To be successful in this role, you’ll have experience working in an investment consultant environment at a senior level, and be able to help us elevate the service so we can penetrate the UHNW segment and market our expanding product range.

You’ll also need:

  • Discretionary and advisory portfolio management techniques
  • Experience of engaging with external consultants and advisors, demonstrating the necessary credibility to represent the business in the external marketplace
  • Experience in advising clients on investment transactions, public market knowledge coupled with Investment idea generation
  • Managed investment led relationships with UHNW clients, institutions and family offices
  • Undertaken strategic initiatives to develop products and services and evidence stakeholder management
  • Experience and deep understanding of alternative asset classes including private markets, hedge funds and structured products
  • Qualified to RDR Level 6
