Summary
The post holder carries 24/7 continuing responsibility and accountability for their clinical / working area.Ensure safe and effective clinical practice in self-ensuring knowledge, skills and competencies are current and act as clinical expert to disseminate specialist skills and knowledge to others.Enhance the womans experience of care and ensure that the needs of the woman are placed at the centre of care delivery.Manage and develop the performance of the team by ensuring staff are prepared and supported and are competent to practise safely and effectively.Contribute to the delivery of the organisations objectives by working to improve clinical outcomes, increase productivity, efficiency, and quality in care delivery.The post-holder is an autonomous practitioner in normal pregnancy, birth, and the post-natal period and in the care of neonates and is able to detect abnormal conditions in mother and baby, refer to other qualified health professionals appropriately and undertake emergency measures in the absence of medical staff.
