Summary
Manage the day-to-day responsibility for safeguarding and child protection within the school.To act as a designated safeguarding lead, leading on all areas of safeguarding, ensuring early interventions in safeguarding, child protection and welfare concerns. Act as the first point of contact for staff members raising safeguarding and child protection concerns and act as a source of support, advice, and expertise.Identify and respond effectively to concerns or disclosures of abuse, neglect or issues relating to the wellbeing of a pupil.Identify pupils who may be at risk and use the correct referral protocol to reduce these risks.Make referrals to the appropriate external agencies and support members of staff to take appropriate actions.Manage the CPOMS system and action the day-to-day logs.Engage with children's social care and specialist services as required.Ensure the senior leadership team and governing board is kept up-to-date on a regular basis regarding all child protection issues, providing reports as required.Take part in Child Protection conferences, strategy discussions and inter-agency meetings. Keep detailed, accurate, and secure written records of all concerns, discussions, and decisions, and whether any referrals were made.Where necessary, securely transfer child protection files and any additional safeguarding information to other educational establishments, ensuring that confirmation of receipt is obtained.
