Role Description
As Chief Investment Officer (CIO) & Group Treasurer, you will lead Sochitel's group-wide investment strategy, capital management, and treasury operations. A critical part of this role involves deep engagement with African financial markets, particularly Nigeria, where Sochitel operates at scale. You will be responsible for sourcing investment opportunities, structuring innovative financial solutions, and managing liquidity and risk across multiple markets. This dual-function position requires a leader who understands the dynamics of emerging markets and can align global capital flows with local execution realities. You will work closely with the CEO and executive team to shape the group’s financial architecture and strategic expansion. This position is based in London, UK and is open to candidates who require visa sponsorship.
Key Responsibilities:
Investment Strategy & Execution
• Define and lead the group’s investment strategy, targeting high-growth, high-impact opportunities aligned with our digital finance mission.
• Originate, evaluate, and execute strategic investments, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
• Lead end-to-end deal processes including due diligence, structuring, negotiations, and integration planning.
• Build strategic partnerships with fintechs, funders, diaspora-facing platforms, and ecosystem enablers.
Capital Allocation & Fundraising
• Design and implement efficient capital allocation frameworks across geographies and business lines.
• Lead fundraising efforts for equity, debt, and alternative capital (including diaspora investment channels).
• Manage investor relations, partner communications, and board reporting on investment and capital matters.
Group Treasury Management
• Oversee cash flow planning, cash management, liquidity forecasting, and intercompany funding.
• Optimize the group’s capital structure, working capital cycles, and FX exposure across jurisdictions.
• Develop treasury policies and controls, ensuring compliance with regulatory and risk requirements.
• Manage relationships with banking partners, financial institutions, and payment service providers.
Strategic Financial Leadership
• Serve as a key advisor to the CEO on financial strategy, risk appetite, and business model innovation.
• Collaborate with Product and Tech teams to evaluate ROI of digital offerings
• Champion financial innovation
To be successful in this role you must have:
• Minimum 10 years in investment banking, treasury, corporate finance, or private equity, preferably within fintech or digital platforms.
• Demonstrated experience in capital raising, deal execution, and multinational treasury operations.
• Deep understanding of financial services infrastructure, regulatory frameworks, and currency dynamics in Africa.
• Advanced degree (MBA, MSc Finance) or professional certifications (CFA, ACT, CTP) highly desirable.
• Visionary financial strategist with a commercial mindset.
• Deep analytical skills, high attention to detail, and strong execution capabilities.
• Excellent communicator and negotiator, with boardroom presence.
• Entrepreneurial, agile, and comfortable navigating complex, fast-paced environments.
