Pay Rate: Up to £45.70 per hour PAYE depending on experience

Office based

Key Requirements:

Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) with a current practising certificate.
Demonstrable experience advising on SEND law and managing SEND Tribunal appeal cases.
Proven experience of advocacy at SEND Tribunals, including preparing and presenting cases independently.
Strong knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014, associated regulations, and relevant case law.
Excellent legal research, drafting, and analytical skills.
Ability to present clear, concise, and practical legal advice tailored to a range of audiences.



The purpose of the role is to provide high-quality legal advice and representation on all matters relating to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), supporting the organisation and its clients in making informed and lawful decisions. The postholder will manage a varied caseload of SEND Tribunal appeals and related matters, and advocate in hearings before the First Tier Tribunal (SEND) with a focus on efficient, solution-focused service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide accurate and timely legal advice on all aspects of SEND law, including statutory duties, policy development, and procedural compliance.
Manage a personal caseload of SEND Tribunal appeals, including evidence review, drafting case statements, and conducting advocacy at case management and final hearings.
Ensure that all legal work is conducted in accordance with relevant legislation, case law, and local authority policy.
Support internal decision-making processes, including drafting legal advice notes and contributing to multidisciplinary meetings.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal clients, including education professionals, case officers, and senior managers.
Work proactively with other legal team members to share knowledge and best practices across the organisation.
