Summary

Provide timely clinical care to gtd healthcare urgent care patients in the form of advice or face to face consultation whilst on shift. To ensure that where appropriate, the patient is referred for further management with the relevant service, e.g. secondary care specialties, community services. To proactively communicate with the Clinical Shift Leads and Senior Care Co-ordinators to ensure the smooth running of the shift. To be responsible for prioritization and timeliness of all consultations assigned to the shift. Work with colleagues to maximize effective and efficient delivery of care to patients. To work within the prescribing formulary, taking account of the minimum length of prescribed treatment. Provide clinical advice to both internal and external other staff as required (e.g. Clinical Shift Lead, Senior Care Co-ordinator, Triage Nurses, other GPs, District Nurses). Represent gtd healthcare in a professional manner when in contact with the general public and other professionals. Support locally developed urgent care pathways and community alternatives to admission, e.g. DVT service, alternative to transfer (ATT/PATS) scheme with NWAS. To support streaming of patients to or from co-located A&E services. On call shifts (optional): Doctors on call are expected to respond to phone requests within 5 minutes of call and to be able to attend at any of our centres within 1 hr. Personal development Maintain appropriate professional registration and ensure working within professional competencies. To ensure all statutory and mandatory training relevant for post is completed. Identify own training needs, in consultation and attend agreed relevant courses / study days to enhance personal development. To be available for meetings and appraisals from time to time as required. Actively seek out learning opportunities via networking with peers in other organisations. Participate in the NHS Appraisal process and all activities required for revalidation. Corporate responsibilities To have a good understanding and follow the organisations policies and procedures. Work as part of the gtd healthcare multidisciplinary team to ensure a positive and productive team environment is developed and maintained at all times. Work as part of a team to ensure targets are met and have primary responsibility for operational targets in real time. To contribute to any strategic developments arising from the urgent care agenda. Involvement in the teaching and training of other health professionals who may be attached to the service. Alert gtd management promptly to problems in service delivery or concerns about the competence of clinical and non-clinical colleagues. To provide relevant information and assurance regarding Working Time Directive and hours worked. To contribute and participate in the management of complaints and concerns where appropriate. Participate in audit of clinical and patient services. Other duties: Any other duties, as agreed with the line manager to meet the needs of the organisation. This may include travel to other sites within the organisation.
