For further information on this role, please see the attached detailed Job Description and Person Specification: These responsibilities will be carried out under the guidance of the shift co-ordinator: To complete the first level assessment of the patients needs to gain an understanding of the physiological, psycho-social, spiritual and cultural needs of patients undergoing diagnostic tests for suspected cancer as well as those diagnosed with cancer and to develop a positive, realistic and supportive attitude to ensure that the needs of the patient and family are met. This will include: Counterchecking patients vital signs, blood results, patient body surface area, chemotherapy prescription and consent before administration of treatment. Educating patients on their treatment protocol such as indications and side effects. Ensuring necessary medication and follow up appointments are obtained. To promote a patient focused multidisciplinary approach to care in collaboration with carers, other health care professionals and external agencies.
