Summary
We have a great opportunity for an experienced Payroll professional to join a busy team, in a high volume, fast paced environment. The successful candidate will have proven experience in a similar role, be proactive, able to work well under pressure and have strong levels of attention to detail. This role will support the Payroll Manager with the daily running and operations of the Payroll functions.
Processes include the end-to-end payroll processes of monthly payrolls for over 1900+ staff, across four different payment dates and all month end tasks, such as reconciliations and pension submissions.
Within this role you will also;
- Work closely with our pension providers
- Assist the Payroll Manager in Tax Year End processes
- Deal with payroll queries from the Payroll Team, staff, managers and third parties
- Assist the Payroll Manager in the processing of yearly Basic Earnings Assessments
- Support with other tasks as required
- Assisting with any training required by the Payroll Team
- Keep up to date with payroll legislation and procedures and advise other members of the Payroll/HR department where appropriate
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- Minimum of 4 – 5 years’ experience working in a high volume, fast paced payroll environment
- Experience working with multiple payrolls
- Personable, self motivated and reliable
- Highly organised and methodical
- GCSE Maths (or equivalent)
- Intermediate level or above in Microsoft office (specifically word, outlook and excel)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, work within a team and meet deadlines
- Excellent customer service/communication skills on all levels in a clear and concise manner both verbal and written
- An awareness of and commitment to supporting and facilitating diversity and inclusion
- Willingness to travel, which may include overnight stays on occasion, as and when required
Desirable:
- CIPP qualification
- Knowledge of NHS Pensions and T&Cs
- Experience of using HR databases
