Summary

We’re looking for a proactive and experienced communications professional to join DWP Digital’s award-winning Digital Engagement team. We’re a supportive, talented, and hard-working team who use insight to communicate to more than 4500 colleagues through various channels in an innovative and effective way.

You will lead on the creation, co-ordination and manage the delivery of some of our key internal communication and engagement campaigns to colleagues across multiple sites.

As a Digital Communication and Engagement Manager for the Chief Operating Office (COO), you’ll shape their engagement strategy through audience insight, your channel expertise and your creative communications skills. You’ll work collaboratively with a wide range of colleagues across and beyond COO to define, deliver and evaluate the COO story to internal and/or external audiences. You articulate the voice of the audience within COO and translate technical issues into relevant and understandable content which resonates with your audiences.

You will also play an important role connecting with the central Digital Engagement hub where you will work on shared engagement outcomes as well as connecting COO to the wider organisation. You will also utilise information about Digital Group to engage COO colleagues and connect them with the wider organisation. This will also require you to have a great knowledge of COO which can be articulated when Digital Group needs to respond to questions about its services.

As a Digital Engagement Manager, you'll play an important role in shaping and delivering our communications and engagement strategy. In this role you will:

  • Collaborate with the central hub and key stakeholders to lead on planning, developing and delivering engaging and innovative campaigns and strategies.
  • Use your communications expertise to reach and engage internal audiences across a range of digital channels.
  • Work effectively with team members to deliver internal communications campaigns in the most effective way, ensuring that the correct message is being promoted and assessing the effectiveness of that message over time.
  • Deliver strategic communications to support business goals. This often involves understanding complex issues and working with directors and senior stakeholders to identify the best targeted approach based on insight and desired outcomes.

Key roles and responsibilities also include:

  • Leading and implement innovative, communication campaigns, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Aligning with communications principles as defined by Government Communication Service. This includes working across a range of communication disciplines and using a strategic planning model (OASIS) to ensure communications are creative, insight-driven, monitored and evaluated: GCS | The professional body for government communicators
  • Assessing and segment internal audiences to target communication effectively.
  • Aligning internal engagement activity with DWP Digital’s employee experience, using the 4 engagement enablers of strategic narrative, integrity, employee voice and engaging line managers: The Four Enablers - Engage for Success
  • Drawing extensively on audience insight to develop innovative internal communication strategies, selecting the most appropriate channel mix and ensuring content is relevant and timely.
  • Providing input on organisational positions and feed into a compelling Digital Group narrative on a range of subjects.
  • Utilising existing communication channels and work with team to recommend the most effective channel to reach the intended audience to build employee engagement.
  • Managing and co-ordinate the internal communications team's activity to ensure campaigns are delivered effectively and on time.
  • Providing support and expertise to senior colleagues to help them deliver confident and consistent messages across the organisation.
  • Utilising data, insight and feedback to make recommendations, understand the wider context for internal communication, identify challenges and barriers and suggest actions for improvement.
