We are looking for a Finance Assistant to join our dynamic team and help drive our financial success. Be a part of our team and make a significant impact on our financial operations.

This is a Finance role in the Department for Transport’s (DfT) Digital, Information and Security (DIS) Directorate. The Directorate has responsibility for Digital Service, Information and Corporate Security. This role sits within the Business Management team that supports the smooth running of the Directorate.    

The Finance Assistant will lead on routine financial management and requisitioning tasks, accurately recording transactional and process level data, and providing an appropriate level of supporting evidence. You will engage with a range of stakeholders at all levels to ensure that financial processes run efficiently and that people can easily follow them. The role also supports the Finance Manager, specifically with in-year and end-year financial activities.

Your key responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Lead on the routine financial management tasks.
  • Raising purchase orders, processing goods receipts notices (GRNs) and ensuring prompt payment of invoices ensuring approvals are gained and that evidence is logged.
  • Accruals
  • Asset management.
  • Completing monthly journals and adjusting where necessary.
  • Produce financial reports.
  • Sharing budgets and forecasts as required and ensuring they are logged correctly in the relevant systems.
  • As specialist requisitioner, accurately record transactional / process level data and support an appropriate level of evidence collection, ensuring the correct procurement processes have been followed.
  • Ensuring financial controls are in place for our operational level contracts, working with colleagues across DIS and DfTc to provide accurate, consistent and reliable data for all stakeholders.
  • Support the Finance Manager with in-year and end-year financial activities and ad-hoc commissions.
  • Build collaborative relationships with other colleagues to support the business.
