Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in shaping the financial landscape of the Digital function at DfTc and the Digital, Information and Security directorate?

We are seeking a dynamic Senior Finance Manager to join our team and drive the development and delivery of robust, transparent, and timely financial and contract management information, processes, and insights.

If you are passionate about finance, possess strong analytical skills, and have a knack for translating data into actionable insights, we would love to hear from you. Join us and make a significant impact on our financial strategy and operations.

In this role, you will be:

  • Producing monthly management accounts, forecasts, dashboards, and analysis to inform decision-making.
  • Ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data, capturing and monitoring financial risks, issues, and opportunities.
  • Providing a clear narrative on the financial position that reflects a deep understanding of the business and its objectives.

You will play a crucial role in maintaining collaborative, customer-focused relationships and networks across the wider finance community. This includes working closely with Finance Business Partners (FBPs) and Commercial colleagues and with senior budget holders to ensure seamless support across boundaries, delivering timely, constructive, and consistent assistance.

As a member of the leadership team, you will:

  • Provide strategic direction and ensure effective service delivery.
  • Offer insightful management reporting from diverse data sets and navigate uncertainties in the operating environment.
  • Draw out the story from the data, explaining what the numbers reveal to highlight areas of concern or the need for action.

Your key responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

    • Leading on the strategic financial management of around £65m digital spend across DfTc to help embed co-ordinated investment of the organisation’s digital strategy and ensure the department achieves better value for money.
    • Providing intelligent strategic advice and analysis of complex financial information for digital spend across DfTc and the DIS directorate, drawing out common themes, understanding linkages and dependencies and gaining value for money.
    • Working with colleagues to establish the right financial standards, guidelines and guardrails for digital procurement and contract management across DfTc, maintaining comprehensive records including budget details, spending and scope. Improving digital supplier and contract management capabilities, resulting in better value for money and quality digital services.
    • Strategic financial planning and management of the directorate’s overall budget allocation of circa £40m, providing the consolidated financial position at various levels within the directorate. Monitor and manage financial and commercial performance. Use information from Finance Business Partners and Commercial, to influence and challenge, and where necessary, address underperformance.
    • Provide incisive explanations and clear summaries/interpretations and translating data into meaningful outputs for senior leadership.
    • Leading on and working with a wide range of stakeholders to respond to a wide range of internal and external commissions within short timeframes.
    • Manage team members, empowering, motivating and coaching to enable effective delivery.
