Car driver with current, clean driving licence valid for use in the UK.
Key Requirements:
A degree (or equivalent) and experience in legal or tribunal settings, ideally within SEN.
In-depth knowledge of SEN legislation, policy, and statutory procedures.
Strong advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills.
Proven case management and problem-solving abilities in complex, high-risk scenarios.
A solution-focused approach with a commitment to inclusive education.
As a SEND Tribunal Officer, the successful candidate will manage complex casework (approx. 145–150 tribunal cases per year), providing expert representation for the Council at appeal hearings and reducing reliance on formal tribunals through proactive and effective service delivery. They will work directly with families, schools, legal representatives, and professional bodies, ensuring high-quality, child-centred outcomes aligned with legislation and best practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the statutory assessment and tribunal casework process across your area.
Represent the County Council in SENDIST hearings.
Deliver a responsive, child-focused service that reduces parental reliance on formal appeals.
Manage key stakeholder relationships across 408 schools, legal reps, and multiple services.
Contribute to service development, policy planning, and resource management.
Support performance and practice consistency across a fast-paced, high-profile team.
