Summary
Murray Recruitment are recruiting a Bookkeeping Manager for our client based in North Lanarkshire.
Role Overview
This is an excellent opportunity to join a small, friendly, and well-established accounting practice, taking a leading role in managing both a dedicated team and a varied client portfolio. The successful candidate will oversee bookkeeping operations and manage their own client portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a team of bookkeeping staff, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
Oversee the team while managing a personal portfolio of clients, carrying out bookkeeping, producing quarterly accounts, processing payroll, and submitting HMRC returns.
Deal with any escalated issues and client queries promptly and professionally.
Provide detailed management accounts for clients.
Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients up to trial balance stage.
Prepare and submit VAT returns, post journals, and process payroll.
Act as the first point of contact for client queries, building strong and lasting relationships.
Drive continuous improvement by introducing new ideas and embracing modern technologies.
Skills & Experience
Proven experience in bookkeeping / accounts position for at least five years.
Strong leadership skills with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Experience using Sage is essential; experience with additional systems such as Xero and QuickBooks is advantageous.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Payroll experience is advantageous, though training can be provided.
Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities effectively.
Approachable, personable, and confident in mentoring staff and engaging with a variety of personalities.
Offering
Salary up to £37,000 depending on experience.
35-hour working week: Monday-Thursday (9:00-17:00) and Friday (8:30-16:00).
Company pension scheme.
Free parking available near the premises.
Office closure over the Christmas and New Year period.
