DISTRICT NURSING

Specialist Practitioner Qualification (SPQ) In District Nursing Opportunity PGDip (Apprenticeship) Community Health 2025.

Are you a 1st Level nurse with 1 years’ post registration and Community Nursing experience.

Do you have evidence of 120 credits at a minimum of level 5 or study at level 6/ 7 and a broad understanding of Community Nursing?

Can you demonstrate knowledge of leadership and the role of a Community Specialist Practitioner

In conjunction with Salford University we are pleased to offer a seconded development opportunity to the Apprenticeship PgDip Specialist Practice Programme (District Nursing pathway).

This is an exciting opportunity, with the programme delivered through the apprenticeship route. This will enable students to achieve the knowledge, skills and clinical competencies to practice safely and effectively in the area of Specialist Practitioner Qualification/ District Nursing.

You will need to demonstrate knowledge of current issues within the NHS, Community Nursing, and their potential influence on District Nursing, together with a commitment to study at level 7



The post holder is required to complete the District Nurse PGDip Apprenticeship programme through education and work-based learning successfully. They are to meet all the gateway requirements when advised by their employer and undertake the end assessment EPA. The apprentice will work in an allocated District Nursing team conducive to learning that will meet their core skills, knowledge, and behaviour relevant to the programme specialism meeting the needs of contemporary healthcare for individuals, communities, and populations.

The apprentice will work alongside a Practice Supervisor (Band 6 CSP) who has responsibility for a designated caseload of patients within the neighbourhood. The Practice assessor will confirm student achievement of proficiencies and programme outcomes for practice learning, informed by feedback sought and received from practice supervisors and work in partnership with the nominated academic assessor to evaluate and recommend the student for progression for each part of the programme.
