Summary
We are looking for an individual with a deep understanding of traditional and social media communications skills who can grasp the broader Strategic Command and Defence communications landscape. You will play a key role in raising awareness and building engagement across a number of internal campaigns.
Key tasks include:
Proactively plan, develop, deliver and evaluate creative media and social media strategies that support the Command’s priorities.
Provide professional and comprehensive external and digital communications advice to stakeholders across Defence, across all ranks and grades, building strong effective relationships and pushing back as needed or offering alternative solutions.
Build an effective network with channel owners across Strategic Command and Defence to deliver a coherent and effective use of digital channels. Monitor digital channels in order to pick up on unexpected activity or opportunities.
Learn and understand emerging trends and platforms across digital devices and communicate this knowledge effectively.
Develop channel scopes, content strategies and plans for external and digital communications planning, delivery, and evaluation.
Ensure quality and consistency of published content on GOV.UK by enforcing governance and policy.
Establish trusted relationships with key stakeholders across the Command and Defence (including Directorate of Defence Communications and the single Services) to ensure the successful delivery of communications plans that support the Command and Defence’s wider priorities.
Support the wider communications team on planning functions, including contributing to forward look schedules, communication plans and projects, and ensuring that external communications are aligned with wider strategies.
Support the delivery of a range of high-profile internal and external events at 4* level.
Work flexibly, you may also be required to work to support the other members of the Strategic Command Communications Team as priorities shift and resources need to flex.
Support the development and delivery of consistent messaging, narratives and communications that underpin our objectives in a highly professional manner, engaging our audiences.
Line Management responsibility for one Communications Managers within the team.
