Summary
This post is for a newly qualified Audiologist. It is an opportunity to develop your basic skills and confidence under the appropriate supervision.
To work as part of the audiology team to provide diagnostics and auditory rehabilitation for both the Adult and Paediatric service
• Perform routine audiological investigations on individuals of all ages, to support the differential diagnosis of auditory dysfunction.
• Agree aural rehabilitation for adult patients, including the selection, fitting and exchange of a range of NHS digital hearing aids, the taking of aural impressions and giving advice on assistive listening devices.
• Complete routine follow up checks of hearing aid use
• Undertake routine hearing aid repair/servicing clinics
• Assist in the performance of tests and auditory rehabilitation programmes for young children.
• Assist with the performance of advanced tests of middle ear function, vestibular function tests, tinnitus evaluation and objective measurement procedures.
• Perform ward visits to in patients requiring assessment or hearing aid issue or repair
• Provide audiological support for ENT and Audiological Medicine clinics
• Undertake assessments of patients with hearing difficulties using the direct referral system, under supervision as appropriate.
• Manage own time effectively to include planning of workload in collaboration with other team members.

Duties and responsibilities
Clinical
• Perform routine audiological investigations on individuals of all ages, to support the differential diagnosis of auditory dysfunction.
• Agree aural rehabilitation for adult patients, including the selection, fitting and exchange of a range of NHS digital hearing aids, the taking of aural impressions and giving advice on assistive listening devices.

• Undertake routine hearing aid repair/servicing clinics
• Assist in the performance of tests and auditory rehabilitation programmes for young children.
• Assist with the performance of advanced tests of middle ear function, vestibular function tests, tinnitus evaluation and objective measurement procedures.
• Perform ward visits to in patients requiring assessment or hearing aid issue or repair
• Provide audiological support for ENT and Audiological Medicine clinics
• Undertake assessments of patients with hearing difficulties using the direct referral system, under supervision as appropriate.
• Manage own time effectively to include planning of workload in collaboration with other team members.
• Provide cover for colleagues as required
Administrative/ governance
• Undertake the receipt/despatch of aural impressions/ear-moulds.
• Assist with the ordering of Stock and Non-Stock items.
• Assist in the reconditioning of hearing aid systems
• Ensure the availability of up-to-date patient information leaflets
• Ensure data entered on Audiology Patient Management System is accurate and current.
• Use initiative when acting on information from patients and carers and be able to respond appropriately e.g. safeguarding disclosures.
• Maintain own personal/ professional development ensuring compliance in mandatory training.
• Contribute to research, training and development programmes within Audiology by recording data and making observations.
• Maintain awareness of developments within Audiology ensuring personal knowledge and skills are consistently developed in order to maintain current competency.
• Provide training as appropriate to training and experience
• Participate in clinical audit and governance programmes within the Audiology Service, providing information as required
• Contribute to individual performance review
• Perform Stage A and B daily/weekly equipment calibration checks
• Work in accordance with local protocols to ensure that clinical and professional standards are maintained
· Ensure the safety and security of equipment at all times and reports any problems to the Audiology Team Leader at the earliest opportunity.
• Assist in the annual equipment calibration programme.
Team Role
· Support the Head of Service with the implementation of new service developments/protocols.
· Ensure the working environment is clean and tidy and that all necessary supplies are available.
· Promote a professional, welcoming and caring environment
Education and Training/Self Development
• Identify own training and development needs and undertake appropriate training/education as required, supported by regular PDR
• Attend professional meetings as required
• Adhere to all Trust Policies and Health and Safety, as applicable
General
Any other duties may be discussed and agreed with the Head of Audiology Services.
