Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities As the Deputy Superintendent Radiographer in Dental Radiology at Guys and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust, you will play a pivotal role in managing and delivering high-quality dental imaging services across the Trust. Working closely with the Superintendent Radiographer and the Dental Radiology Clinical Lead, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the department, ensuring the smooth coordination of clinical workload and the delivery of a safe, efficient, and patient-focused service. Key Responsibilities include: Clinical Leadership Provide expert knowledge in a full range of dental and maxillofacial imaging procedures, including CBCT and sialography, ensuring the highest standards of clinical practice. Team Management Lead, support, and develop a team of senior radiographers, dental nurses, and imaging support staff, managing performance, capability, and conduct issues in line with Trust policies. Service Delivery Manage daily workflow, authorise CBCT scans, and ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet service demands. Training and Development Deliver training and support for staff, including radiographers, dental nurses, and clinical teachers, to ensure consistent high standards of care and compliance with professional guidelines. Operational Management Oversee equipment maintenance, stock control, and adherence to radiation protection protocols (IR(ME)R17 and IRR17), taking appropriate action to resolve technical and operational issues. Governance and Quality Improvement Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental protocols and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and service efficiency. Strategic Development Support the Superintendent Radiographer in identifying and implementing service improvements and innovation to drive the department forward. Multidisciplinary Collaboration Work closely with dental clinicians, medical physicists, and other healthcare professionals to provide a responsive and integrated service.
