The main duties of the post will include:
 The duties of the post, some of which will require physical effort such as standing for long periods, waking distances, pushing and pulling and climbing stairs
 The cleaning and preparation of various areas in the academic and associated buildings such as seminar rooms, offices, male and female toilets, corridors, lifts, laboratories, meeting rooms and gymnasiums.
 To carry out various types of cleaning tasks so that cleaning specification standards are achieved.
 Replenishment of consumables such as soap, hand sanitiser and toilet rolls.
 Cleaning of external areas.
 Refuse and recycling collection.
 Fault reporting.
 The operation of mechanical cleaning equipment (following suitable training).
 To provide cleaning cover across all University buildings including the residential buildings as and when required by management.
 Responding to emergency cleaning requests including the clear up of floods, offensive waste and sharps.
 Participation in all training that is deemed to be necessary by Soft FM Services.
 To provide support when necessary to all other Soft FM Services groups.

 Ensuring that all cleaning materials and equipment are stored safely at all times and that only approved cleaning materials as detailed in the C.O.S.H.H register are used.
 Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Head of Soft FM Services or their nominee.
