Summary

DCMS is responsible for 42 Public Bodies - organisations set up to deliver government functions at arm’s-length, with independent boards. These are high profile organisations, ranging from Museums & Galleries such as the V&A, Tate and the British Museum to media and creative industries such as the BBC and the BFI, and sports organisations including UK Sport and Sport England. We’re also responsible for regulators including the Gambling Commission and the Charity Commission and advisory bodies including the Treasure Valuation Committee.

The Appointments Team manages more than 400 public appointments for these public bodies. Public appointments are regulated by the Office for the Commissioner for Public Appointments, and are highly scrutinised inside and outside of the Department. The Team works with Ministers, Cabinet Office, No10, public bodies themselves and Senior Leaders across DCMS to ensure a diverse range of talented people are appointed to our Boards, in order for these organisations to deliver for the public up and down the country.

We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive individual to run high profile recruitment campaigns for strategically important public bodies, working closely with sponsors and public bodies, and providing high quality advice to Ministers, No10 and the Cabinet Office.

This is a varied and interesting role focused on strong customer care and delivery, with senior engagement with teams throughout the Department. You will have responsibility for managing recruitment campaigns from start to finish. You will also have the opportunity to work on special team projects such as increasing diversity of applicants, data analysis, and the talent pipeline of appointees. You will be part of a supportive and collaborative wider team helping to drive forward the Department's strategic priorities.

This is a high profile and fast-paced role that requires excellent organisational and communication skills, and gives the post holder an opportunity to develop their strategic project, programme and stakeholder management skills as well as building an important network across DCMS and with key external stakeholders.
