Summary
We are seeking skilled Public and Green Space Mechanical Operators to perform cleansing and grounds maintenance tasks, ensuring the city remains clean, safe, and visually appealing.
Duties
Perform vegetation management (grass cutting, hedge trimming, pruning).
Use powered pedestrian and handheld equipment for tasks such as shrub bed maintenance and weed spraying.
Remove graffiti using chemicals or powered equipment.
Conduct mechanical sweeping.
Maintain sports pitches, tennis courts, and other outdoor facilities.
Empty litter bins, remove small graffiti marks, clear weeds and overgrown shrubs, and clean public restrooms as needed.
Address day-to-day issues or escalate to the Team Leader when necessary.
Inform and assist the public and businesses, responding to their inquiries and complaints.
Participate in equipment training, maintain safe work practices, and comply with Clients policies.
Report incidents impacting public spaces, like damaged furniture, fly-tipping, or stray animals.
Requirements
Basic health and safety knowledge.
Training in weed spraying or mechanical equipment use (desirable)
Teamwork and ability to perform a range of manual outdoor tasks.
Experience in grounds maintenance or similar outdoor activities.
Basic literacy and numeracy; familiarity with mobile devices.
Ability to prioritize work and maintain safe work systems.
Physically robust and self-motivated.
Able to undertake long foot patrols, navigate difficult terrain, and carry equipment.
Smart appearance and flexibility to work outside normal hours.
Valid driving license.

Groundskeeping: 1 year (preferred)
