The Team

We are looking for an Information Assistant to join our Information & Operations team. As an Information Assistant, you will play a critical role in the successful delivery of a responsive, high quality customer centric experience for our Staff and Students.

The Information & Operations team provide innovative, reliable services which are continually adapted to meet the changing needs of staff and students, supporting them to become world class professionals. Information & Operations work as part of a wide Library Services Team and assist students, staff, and guests in their use of the University’s broad range of technologies and library services, helping them work smarter, faster, and easier.

The University is continuing to make significant investment in its IT and digital services provision to ensure the delivery of a consistent, high-quality IT and services across the University. Information Services provide IT and Library services which are continually being adapted to meet the changing needs of the staff and students in a rapidly changing technology environment.

The Role

As an Information Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing an efficient and effective delivery of day-to-day Library services to students, staff, researchers, and external members, encouraging them to explore and make use of all our Library services.

You will be part of an agile and flexible customer-focused team, that provides an efficient first line Library and IT service to support users with Library enquires, use of Library and IT resources and supporting access to electronic resources and stock collections.

As someone with experience in delivering excellent customer service, you will have the opportunity to support customer needs using face-to-face, over the phone and electronic communications.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with the Information and Operations Manager, Senior Information Assistants and Learning and Research Services team to support the development and improvement of the Library Services.

Who are we looking for

You will have:
• Strong customer focused experience, along with a good working knowledge of common Library and IT applications/systems, internet, and digital information services.
• Proven experience to proactively offer support with a complex range of needs and promote services to users to meet those needs in a busy and sometimes challenging environment.
• A degree and/or demonstrable equivalent experience.
• Ability to work well within a team environment.
• Excellent communication skills with experience of handling customers’ enquiries face to face, over the phone and electronically.
• Experience of using a library and/or service management system.
• Problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to approach and resolve problems in a thoughtful and practical manner.
