Summary


We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated ward clerk to join our team on Ward 27, Cardiothoracic, or a person looking for a new challenge in an administrative role.

We are looking for a reliable and highly organised individual who has excellent communication skills. You must also be able to demonstrate an adaptable, enthusiastic approach to your work, and the ability to manage your workload with various competing demands for your attention within a busy clinical area.

Shift pattern - 4 shifts per week, 07:30 start, must be flexible to the needs of the service. Operating over a 5 day service.

Whilst we currently cater for day case and inpatients, please note that ward 27 will become a day case only unit operating between Monday to Friday only. Date is to be clarified for this change.

Basic IT knowledge is essential. Previous NHS experience with e-record and working within a ward clerk environment is desirable.
The role involves providing a front line clerical service to clinical staff within the ward, ensuring an appropriate standard of support is delivered in a timely manner. You will provide a meet and greet service to visitors, patients and staff. A key responsibility for the post holder is to ensure the timely and accurate inputting of data is captured for all day case and outpatient activity, admissions, transfers and discharges of patients.
Additional duties will include stock ordering, supporting the nursing team and bed management team. We are a small, friendly team and the post will be to work alongside our existing full time, experienced ward clerk. Ward clerks work 3-4 days per week to be flexible to the needs of the service

• Freeman Hospital

• Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI)

• Health Innovation Neighbourhood (on the former Newcastle General Hospital and Centre for Ageing and Vitality site)

• Newcastle Dental Hospital

• Newcastle Fertility Centre

• Northern Centre for Cancer Care, North Cumbria

• Northern Genetics Service

• Cramlington Manor Walks

• To provide and maintain efficient and effective administrative support to the Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse and multidisciplinary team.
• Contribute to the delivery of a consistently high standard of patient care as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
• Ensures case notes, investigations and results are available for new admissions, ward rounds and multi-disciplinary team meetings.
• To ensure that case notes are correctly maintained following departmental guidelines and compliance with legislation (Caldicott Guidelines etc).Ensuring PAS system is up to date and accurate.
