Opportunity Overview

The University of Salford has exciting new vacancies for Lecturers in Mental Health Nursing. This is an exciting opportunity in which you, as a member of our welcoming, diverse, vibrant, innovative, influential and award-winning mental health nursing team, will play a key role in the creative design and delivery of pre and post registration mental health nursing education.

As a provider of a thriving and expanding Advanced Clinical Practice Mental Health Nursing Pathway we are particularly interested in applications from Advanced Clinical Practitioners.

Please note that we are looking to recruit for two positions in total. One opportunity is full-time and permanent, the second opportunity is to cover a period of maternity leave, also full-time (12 month fixed-term contract).

Day to day role and key responsibilities:

  • Developing the skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviours of undergraduate and post graduate pre-registration mental health nursing students, post qualifying students and other learners in the School of Health & Society.
  • With a focus on mental health nursing, design, develop, deliver and evaluate evidence-based teaching material and resources across a range of modules, and programmes of study.
  • Supervise, mark and assess coursework and examinations, providing constructive feedback to students as part of a module team.
  • Fulfil the role of personal tutor and Academic Assessor to a group of mental health nursing students.
  • Engage in scholarly activity contributing to subject relevant evidence base.

Essential Criteria:

  • Current NMC registration as a mental health nurse
  • A master’s degree (or a minimum of 120 level 7 academic credits) in a health-related area
  • Minimum of 2 years post-registration clinical experience working with people in a therapeutic setting
  • Experience of student education/supervision in mental health nursing through practice and/or education
