Summary
Personal Assistant-Morecambe – LILS/EM/LG
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Personal Assistant to provide support to a young man with Downs Syndrome within the local community.
Our client is a kind and generous individual who has been going through a difficult period recently, and has gone from a happy and active person to a withdrawn and quiet one. He has been diagnosed as having anxiety and depression which has led him to become mute in most interactions and resorting to writing down his feelings on paper.
We want to find and reinstate the lovely young man he was and help him re-engage with friends and activities he has always loved.
He loves swimming, photography, bowling, art, snooker, table tennis, walks in the countryside and the occasional pint in the pub. He enjoys being part of an active social circle.
We are looking for a caring, proactive and motivated individual with a passion for supporting others who can assist in getting our client back on his feet and enjoying again the active life he recently led.
He is also on the waiting list for a Supported Living placement in the community and it is envisaged that the support role will continue through this transition and be ongoing within the new placement.
Previous experience is desirable but not essential, but a positive attitude and good work ethic is essential. You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A driver with a full clean license is required.
This is a part time position for a 4 hour half day session initially per week, rising to 12 hours, split into three 4 hour half days per week following a successful trial period.
The hourly rate of £15 plus 5.6 weeks paid annual leave, mileage allowance and workplace pension scheme.
