Interim Childcare Solicitor

Pay Rate: up to £35.45 per hour PAYE max

37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours

This opening assignment is for 2-3 months

City: Leicester

Hybrid working and needs to attend own hearings.

As an experienced child care solicitor, you will provide an advanced level of legal advice and representation in the field of childcare

Key duties:

Conduct robust legal assessments and evaluations in public law children cases, ensuring all work meets high professional and evidential standards.
Proactively identify safeguarding risks, legal conflicts, and case complexities, escalating matters appropriately and in line with child protection procedures.
Manage a busy and sensitive caseload within court deadlines and statutory timeframes, liaising effectively with clients, social workers, and external counsel.
Provide clear, well-reasoned legal advice and representation based on up-to-date childcare legislation, case law, and local authority policy.
Undertake in-depth legal research and develop creative, legally sound strategies to resolve complex issues in care proceedings and related children’s matters.



Key requirements:

Must be a qualified solicitor, barrister or chartered legal executive and hold a current practising certificate
Advanced level of knowledge in childcare law, practice and procedure
Substantial experience of working in a legal environment and commensurate knowledge of law, practice and procedure
Experience of holding and managing a legal caseload of a complex, specialist nature
Experience of undertaking research, problem solving, drafting and analyses of high-level complexity, and resolve associated issues, conflicts and anomalies
Advanced verbal communication skills and proficient at giving clear, accurate and timely advice
Skills in research, analyses and problem solving
