Long Term Futures are working in partnership with a large and inclusive secondary school in Waltham Forest to appoint a dedicated and proactive Behaviour Mentor to join their Student Care Team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people through the challenges of school life, particularly around behaviour, attendance and emotional well-being. You'll work closely with Heads of Year to support students across a range of year groups.
- Offer 1:1 and group mentoring for students experiencing difficulties with behaviour, motivation or attendance
- Support the implementation of behaviour plans, attendance strategies and pastoral interventions
- Act as a consistent support figure across the school day, in and out of class
- Help manage internal inclusion spaces and reintegration of students
- Build trusted relationships with students, staff and families
- Monitor student engagement and report on progress to Heads of Year and safeguarding leads
- Experience working with secondary-aged students in a school, youth work or SEMH setting
- Calm, consistent and confident in managing challenging behaviour
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work across multiple year groups, adapting support based on individual need
- A background in education, youth mentoring, psychology or counselling is highly desirable
- Based in a well-connected part of Waltham Forest, with excellent public transport links
