We are seeking an exceptional, engaging, committed and proactive individual to join us as a VAWG Officer. This role is unique, varied and interesting by contributing in the delivery of the long-term vision action plan for the prevention and reduction of Violence Against Women and Girls in Thurrock. Moving Thurrock towards a proactive and considered approach for victims/survivors of domestic and sexual violence and abuse.

The VAWG Officer will work within the Housing Safeguarding Team who play a vital role in helping residence that have, or are experiencing abuse by providing practical and emotional support to help them achieve safety and stability.

The role:
- To contribute to the prevention and reduction of violence against women and girls.
- To work towards creating safer communities for women and girls within Thurrock.
- Developing and contributing to campaigns and initiatives aims at challenging attitudes and behaviours that perpetuate VAWG.
- Building and maintaining effective working relationships with various agencies i.e. Police, Social Care, Healthcare, Community Safety Partnership and the voluntary sector.
- To engage in active participation at meetings with staff at all levels.
The successful candidate:
- Have an understanding of the issues around domestic abuse, sexual violence and honour based abuse.
- Experience of partnership working.
- Be pro active and able to work on own initiative and within a team.
- To have excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to write detailed reports clearly and concisely.
- Standard DBS check is required.
