Summary
Job Description Post: Patient Administrator Based at: 114 Arbury Road, Cambridge, CB4 2JG Reports to: Office Manager Job Purpose Greet patients and visitors in an efficient and courteous manner. Provide a caring and compassionate service to patients. Provide an effective and polite telephone enquiry service. Proactively communicate information between relevant patients, doctors and professionals. Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice including the provision of secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team. To ensure the accurate and timely recording of patient data onto the SystmOne database. Main duties Greet patients and visitors to the practice. Book in patients and visitors in line with practice appointments and visitors procedures. Respond to and/or redirect all patient and visitor requests accordingly. Ensure computerised appointment system is kept up-to-date. Book, amend and cancel patient appointments. Take requests for home visits, emergency visits and hospital transport. Liaise with prescription department. Set-up of new patients onto the computer system. Distribute completed prescriptions. Answer incoming telephone calls, ensuring calls are documented and redirected accordingly. Ensure up-to-date maintenance of both computerised and manual filing systems. Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures. Provide clerical assistance to practice as required from time to time, including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning. Assist in the completion of medical/insurance reports. Summarising medical records and entering data onto the practice database. Tidying of patients previous manual medical records. Ensure confidential paper waste is shredded. Ensure that the waiting areas are tidy and free from obstacles. Secure the building at the end of the working day. Work safely at all times in accordance with Legislative requirements and Practice Policy and Procedures.
