Summary

Under the leadership of the Director of Research Services, the service is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing externally funded research projects and programmes. It promotes research integrity while ensuring compliance with both funder and external guidelines. Additionally, the service supports the cultivation of an inclusive research culture and helps researchers achieve impact through their work, while also contributing to the development of the institution's Research Excellence Framework submissions.

The Grants and Contracts Officer, working with the College and Engineering and Physical Sciences, plays a key role supporting a range of funding development and award acceptance needs. Spotting opportunities for applications, writing and inputting into bids and having a comprehensive overview of College research interests will drive success in this role. Reporting to the Awards and Contracts Specialist you will lead on the post award set-up of successful applications, including the review and processing of research-related contracts and agreements.

Aligned with our ambitious Research and Enterprise 2030 strategy you will have an interest in research, excellent written and verbal communication skills and a talent for managing processes.

You will join a friendly team that is focused on delivering a professional service to the research staff at Aston and all key stakeholders of the University. The team operates a highly collaborative working style; the ability to work across teams and cultivate good relationships is essential to the role.

You will have a degree or equivalent professional experience/qualification, excellent organisational and planning skills alongside experience of drafting and negotiating contracts. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a mixture of relationship and analytical skills.

Aston may be able to sponsor the successful candidate under the Skilled Worker visa route, dependent upon the salary associated with their appointment.
