Summary
RESEARCH, AUDIT AND TEACHING In conjunction with consultant colleagues the post-holders will organise and supervise the teaching of junior medical staff and students in the department. Research, audit and teaching are vital for the growth of effective clinical care. The consultant will be expected to support and foster these non-clinical roles in conjunction with the incumbents and to take part in the teaching of medical undergraduates and postgraduates. General Radiology on-call runs as a 1:15 1:16 on-call. On call work is outsourced overnight from 8:30pm weekdays and 1pm weekends to Everlight. The on call radiologist is onsite 5pm-8:30pm weekdays and 9am-1pm weekends and bank holidays. The radiologist remains on-call overnight from home in case of emergency ultrasound and IT failure to connect to Everlight. Comply with the Trusts Clinical Governance policy, including clinical risk management, data collection and regular departmental audit projects Undertake and participate in audit of clinical practice to ensure that current standards and evidence-based practice are applied. Liaise with other consultant radiologists on the development and implementation of protocols and guidelines for the management of radiological proceduresand the development of clinical audit. Maintain standards of care for his/her service to the Medical Director, the Chairman and the Board of ESNEFT Participate in an annual appraisal, identifying individual training and development needs taking into account the Royal College of Radiologists requirements, and meet the requirements for revalidation. Actively participate in continuing medical education to support own and service developments. Participate in the Postgraduate and Undergraduate teaching programmes, and teaching of other healthcare professionals, within the department. Participate in teaching of Radiology Sprs we currently have 4 radiology SpR ranging from 1 to 5 years of trainingMaintain an up to date job plan and personal development plan Register and participate in the appropriate CPD Scheme.
