Job Title: Trainee CNC Brake Press Operator
Location: Volution Group plc, Dudley, UK
Department: Sheet Metal Department
Reports To: Production Manager
Hours of work: Monday – Thursday 8am – 4.30pm, Friday 8am – 1.30pm (37.5hrs pw).

Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Brake Press Operator; you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC Press Brake machines (Amada Promecam/HFE and Trumpf Trumabend) to produce high-quality sheet metal components.

As a Trainee, you will undergo hands-on training and develop the skills required to operate CNC brake press machines effectively in a sheet metal fabrication environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals looking to grow their career in CNC machining and sheet metal fabrication.

Key responsibilities:
• Assist with the setup and operation of CNC brake press machines under the supervision of experienced operators.
• Load and unload sheet metal onto the machine bed, ensuring proper alignment and secure positioning of materials.
• Learn to interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine the correct specifications for bending and forming operations.
• Ensure that parts meet the required tolerances and specifications by inspecting products after each cycle.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure the machine is kept in good working condition. Report any issues to senior operators or maintenance staff.
• Participate in training sessions to develop technical skills and knowledge of the machine's operation, tooling, and maintenance procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organised work area. Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as tool changes and machine cleaning.
• Work closely with senior operators, engineers, and production staff to meet production targets and improve processes.

Skills & Qualifications:
• A natural interest in how machines work and computer controls.
• Ability to understand and follow mechanical processes and trouble shooting.
• Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• A logical and methodical approach to problem-solving.
• Basic math for measurements and calculations.
• Ability to learn and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Clear and concise communication skills – verbal and written.
• A positive attitude and a desire to learn new skills.
• Ability to lift and handle metal sheets and perform physical tasks related to machine operation.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Essential):
• Experience working in a manufacturing or metalworking environment.
• Familiarity with CNC machinery and computer systems.
• Basic knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and bending processes.
