The Team Leader role will be based in one of our waste teams within the Combined Packaging Regimes department of Environmental Markets and Regulation. We’re a national team with officers based across England, ensuring a consistent regulatory approach across the country.
As a department we ensure that companies are disposing of their waste correctly by enforcing government regulations- ‘right waste, right place’.
You will be key to leading, managing and supporting your team, to enable them to fulfil their roles of delivering compliance and enforcement within your area.
As a Team Leader, you will lead a team of Officers to deliver outcomes.
Please note that these roles will be based in East Anglia.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. Full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role. This may attract an additional payment.
Everyone starting in a new role with the Environment Agency will be welcomed into the team and given all the training and support you need to succeed.

The team
Environmental Markets and Regulation is a supportive and inclusive department that encourages our
teams’ health, safety, wellbeing, and development. We aim to improve the quality of recycling and
ensure waste entering and leaving the country is handled appropriately for recycling and recovery. We
help to protect and improve the environment by regulating industry, ensuring compliance, and
eliminating illegal activities.
Key areas we regulate: Packaging Waste, Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, Batteries and
International Waste Shipments.
Experience/skills required
You will lead a dispersed team and be responsible for service delivery, performance and
resilience.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
• The ability to lead a diverse group of people.
• Enthusiasm to improve how we do things.
• Excellent communication skills to engage with teams and individuals with a range of
personalities and abilities
• Leading change successfully and identifying opportunities to improve
• The ability to deliver high priority work through your teams.
• A positive attitude, alongside a genuine desire to support others
• Ability to manage completing workloads and to prioritise your own personal development, as
well as that of your team members.
•Managing the health, safety and well-being of yourself and others.
•Ability to deliver results through others by monitoring the delivery of targets, managing many
priorities, and conflicting demands.
•Build and maintain productive relations to achieve environmental benefits
