Summary


An exciting role has become available for a qualified audiologist within the trust this is a perfect role for a newly qualified audiologist wishing to gain experience within the field.

To work within the Audiology acute team, responsible for the provision of the audiology service to the patients within the Trust.
To provide routine audiological assessments, diagnosis and rehabilitation to adults and older children and assist in more complex procedures. Taking responsibility for their own work yet under supervision of a Senior Audiologist. The post holder will also be involved in the supervision of
audiology students and assistants, and they will work at the base hospitals and community venues throughout Halifax and Huddersfield.

The main duties of this role involves the assessment and management of hearting loss in adults with some testing on older children, including but not limited to.
• Covering ENT clinics
• Undertaking direct access hearing assessment and hearing aid fittings.
• undertaking clinics to fix and repairs hearing aids

We provide a range of services including urgent and emergency care; medical; surgical; maternity; gynaecology; critical care; children’s and young people’s services; end of life care and outpatient and diagnostic imaging services.

We provide community health services, including sexual health services in Calderdale from Calderdale Royal and local health centres. These include Todmorden Health Centre and Broad Street Plaza.

The postholder:-
 Records all personally generated clinical observations and test results accurately on patient
management system in a format that is comprehendible to other Audiologists.
 Ensure supervising audiologist is made aware of any potential risks affecting patient care.
 Makes day to day planning to prioritise general duties e.g. stock refills, sending moulds or
aids to manufactures.
 Participate in stock control and ordering.
 Works on own and uses initiative based on prior training when acting on changing patient
information and test results in order to make changes to patient care. Access to Senior
Audiologist is available if further expertise is required.
 Be aware of barriers to communication e.g learning disabilities, hearing impaired and when
English is not the first language and overcome these barriers effectively.
 Ensure patient is fully informed of clinical procedures
 Manage professionally any potential disputes/complaints that may present from abusive
patients, relatives or carers, refer to a senior member of staff if necessary.
 Assist in the training of students on placement from university and Assistant Audiology
