The Role:

The Breakfast Chef is responsible for delivering high-quality breakfast service that meets specified standards, ensuring an excellent start to the day for all guests. This includes preparing, cooking, and presenting breakfast dishes efficiently while maintaining hygiene, safety, and quality. The role involves minimising waste, supporting kitchen operations, and ensuring smooth service in collaboration with the wider team.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation & Service

  • Prepare, cook, and present breakfast dishes to the highest standard.
  • Ensure all food is prepared in line with portion guidelines and quality expectations.
  • Work efficiently to deliver a timely breakfast service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen.
  • Monitor stock levels and ensure timely requisition of ingredients.
  • Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.

Organisation & Planning

  • Set up the breakfast section before service to ensure smooth operation.
  • Ensure all necessary ingredients and equipment are available before service begins.
  • Minimise food waste through accurate planning and preparation.
  • Complete end-of-shift procedures, including closing down the section properly.

Teamwork & Support

  • Work closely with the Head Chef, Sous Chef, and kitchen team to ensure efficiency.
  • Support and guide junior team members, including Commis Chefs and apprentices.
  • Participate in pre- and post-service briefings and training sessions.
  • Maintain a professional and positive working environment.

Customer Interaction & Standards Compliance

  • Present yourself in a professional manner and engage with guests when required.
  • Ensure all breakfast dishes meet menu descriptions and guest expectations.
  • Adapt dishes for special dietary requirements where necessary.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for menu improvements and operational efficiency.
