Summary

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Balfour Beatty’s team, selected as a construction partner for the Rolls Royce expansion work in Raynesway, Derby, designed to meet the growing demand from the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and in response to the AUKUS agreement. As part of this multi-phase programme, which will unfold over the next eight years, Balfour Beatty will deliver essential infrastructure enabling works, construct new manufacturing and office facilities, and redevelop existing industrial buildings on the site.

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Planner (MEP Bias) to join our high-performing team on a landmark project at Rolls Royce’s Raynesway site in Derby. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a multi-year, cutting-edge programme delivering secure infrastructure to support the UK’s defence capabilities—driven by MOD needs and the international AUKUS agreement.

You’ll be instrumental in taking the project from RIBA Stage 2 through construction to final handover, bringing together top-tier stakeholders and driving excellence across every phase of delivery.

What you'll be doing

What you’ll be doing:

  • Reporting to the Planning Lead and owning the planning lifecycle for a major tranche of the project.
  • Developing and maintaining NEC-compliant programmes across all stages.
  • Managing integration of MEP and infrastructure works within the wider master schedule.
  • Collaborating closely with our client, design consultants, and supply chain partners.
  • Leading digital planning initiatives, including 4D modelling.
  • Embedding risk awareness into programming and offering critical time-impact analysis.
  • Mentoring and developing junior planners across the team.

Who we're looking for

What we’re looking for:

  • A seasoned Senior Planner, ideally from a building services or MEP background.
  • Strong experience with complex MEP systems and commissioning strategies.
  • Excellent knowledge of Primavera P6 and modern planning techniques.
  • Comfortable in NEC environments, including programme submission and change control.
  • Skilled in critical path analysis, float, time-risk, and strategic planning.
  • A relevant OND/HND/Degree qualification is desirable.
