The Role:
We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Buyer to join our dynamic procurement team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in a fast-paced and rewarding environment. You will support the Senior Buyer and wider procurement function in sourcing and purchasing materials and components essential to our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the procurement of steel, fittings, and other construction-related materials
• Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotations, manage lead times, and negotiate pricing
• Raise and process purchase orders in accordance with company procedures
• Maintain accurate records of purchases and supplier information
• Support inventory management and monitor stock levels
• Help identify cost-saving opportunities and supply chain efficiencies
• Ensure compliance with health & safety and environmental standards
What We’re Looking For:
• Previous experience in a purchasing or procurement role, ideally within the construction or engineering sector
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software (e.g., Sage, SAP, or similar)
• Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
• A proactive and team-oriented approach
Desirable:
• CIPS qualification (or working towards it)
• Understanding of steelwork and construction materials
