Summary

Our client Scottish Power Renewables are currently recruiting for 2 Platform Managers to join their team based in Lowestoft on a contract basis initially. Ideally for this role they are looking for an experienced Platform Manager with a background in Large Scale offshore projects as well as knowledge of CDM 2015. Main Purpose of Job
The Offshore Converter Station (OFCS) Platform Manager is a key role within the East Anglia Three team
and a critical role to deliver the OFCS scope of works.
The position is for the East Anglia Three project and will initially be based at the Lowestoft construction office
to familiarise yourself with the administration requirements of the project and assist as required in ensuring
suitable preparation for the offshore phase.
There may be a requirement for ad-hoc visits offshore to perform Client Rep/Platform Manager duties during
the installation of the jacket and topside structures, and the period of JuB interfacing works.
This role will then move to an offshore routine 14 day x 14 day rotation where the Platform Manager will be
the offshore focal point for the client. You will ensure that all OFCS activities are being carried out safely and
methodically to aid the Client in fulfilling the Principal Contractor duties within CDM 2015.
This is a senior offshore role, and as such there is an appreciation that working in excess of the standard 12hr
days is likely, and that your rest period may be disturbed to aid/address any urgent issues.
Close liaison with the main contractors for the project will be essential, and good collaboration and
communication is required to ensure the delivery of the integrated project plan. Whilst the main contractors
will manage their personnel and sub-contractors as required, there will also be a requirement for the Platform
Manager to manage teams of contract personnel directly under the clients employment.
You will be a key interface in the Management of Change approval process. Understanding the need for the
changes, ensuring that the proposals put forward are technically sound, and any impacts with regards to safety
or quality are understood and mitigated against. You will also ensure that any changes are suitably
documented and recorded for full traceability.
You will also be the offshore custodian of the Authorisation to Work process, ensuring that all works to be
undertaken are captured within a safe system of work process and that the work flow process is being
effectively adhered to.
To achieve the many requirements of this role, you will be expected to be an influential and visible leader of
people. As such you will chair various project and safety meetings as required and drive key messages to the
various personnel through your professionalism and passion to deliver safely.

Key Tasks
• CDM
o Lead the site Management team as a representative of the Principal Contractor.
o Implement the Safety Management System on the OFCS.
o Understand and comply with all relevant legislation with a particular focus on CDM and the compliance for
the roles of Principal Contractor, Contractor, and Client.
o conducting necessary site inductions, delivery of pertinent safety communications at site, participating in
safety leadership tours, incident management and reporting and Safety Observation reporting.
o Review of Contractor pre-task planning documentation, including method statements & risk assessments
to facilitate daily site checks to ensure activities are being carried out safely.
o Ensure all welfare provisions are adequate for the levels of personnel.
• Site Management
o Offer clear and decisive direction for all offshore related matters.
o Actively promote site HSEQ, and offer a presence at the worksites, engaging with work parties.
o Support with the management of main contractors (Note: accountability for main contracts is with Package
Mangers).
o Ensure environmental compliance for all offshore activities.
o Direct management of offshore contractors under SPR employment.
o Ensure any SIMOPS are identified, assessed, planned, and executed in a safe and methodical manner.
o Liaise and co-ordinate activities with all stakeholder parties within the CDM zone.
o Perform any Incident Response functions as required.
o Conduct site incident/accident investigations as required.
o Ensure welfare provision is adequate, and is maintained in such condition.
• Works Management
o Add valued input into the work execution plans, offering insights and updates from an offshore perspective
to ensure the plans remain valid and achievable.
o Ensure the safety management systems are robust and being utilised correctly.
o Review and approve RAMS and associated work pack documentation as required.
o Review and approve Change Management request documentation as required.
o Ensure the quality of works being completed is to the correct standard. Liaise with QA/QC and conduct site
audits and hold point reviews to offer assurances.
o Ensure all project works documentation and administration is completed and signed as required to ensure
full completion and traceability of completed activities is available allowing for suitable close out of
activities.
• Reporting
o Create and issue Daily Progress Reports, ensuring all pertinent project information is captured within.
o Create and issue weekly/monthly internal progress reports.
o Complete any incident/accident reports as required, and ensure regular updates of such until closed out.
o Routinely approve and submit timesheet reports
o Create and submit any regulatory reports as required.
o Ensure a robust handover between platform managers and other key positions pertaining to the OFCS.
• Commercial / Financial Management
o Maintain a close working relationship with contract parties.
o Understand the commercial dynamics of this project and the key stakeholders within.
o Rigorously adhere to contract agreements, and ensure the variation order process is adopted and adhered
to for any additions/variations in scope.
o Be cost conscious. Protect the client from un-necessary overspend and offer proposals to reduce costs
where possible.
o Ensure the interests of SPR are protected at all times.

Key Criteria
• Essential
o Proven management competence and experience in large scale offshore projects.
o Robust understanding of CDM 2015 regulations, especially in relation to the requirements of the Principal
Contractor within the offshore environment.
o Safety conscious and good risk management ability.
o Driven to deliver, and results focused.
o Commercially astute, appreciating the contractual dynamics of the project.
o Self motivated.
o Excellent communication skills across various levels of an organisation.
o Chair/lead meetings as required.
o SPR focal point for all offshore matters on the OFCS.
o Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction management
o Must hold and maintain GWO training and certification, and offshore medical certificates to meet
all offshore requirements
o Proficient in Microsoft suite of products (excel, word, PowerPoint).
• Desirable
o Familiar with HVDC offshore converter station design and operation
o Familiar with emergency Response and incident control
o NEBOSH qualification
