Summary
We’re looking for a reliable and adaptable individual to join us on a part time basis as a driver to pick up and deliver to/from a range of locations in North Tyneside and surrounding areas. This is a varied role. Due to increasing growth in demand for our services this role would suit someone who is flexible, open to change, willing to contribute and enjoys being part of a team. You must be able to work on your own, have a high level of accuracy and care about what you do. As a team member of The Bay Foodbank, you’ll need to be:
• Reliable, honest, friendly and open, with a positive attitude.
• Customer orientated and care about their needs and requirements.
• Competent and confident driver, holding a valid driving licence.
• Able to work alone and within a team, work well under pressure and have an eye for detail.
• Be punctual.
• Be physically fit - able to lift and carry 16/25kg (the recommended maximum safe lifting weight). It would be advantageous if you have some experience in warehouse/driving delivery roles, although this is not essential as we will provide training for the right candidate.
The Role - This role is split across three days; Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The hours are from 0930– 1530.
Overtime may occasionally be required, however notice would be provided. Willingness to cover for colleagues at holidays times is essential. Weekend working may be required very occasionally, so flexibility is sought.
This role is physically demanding, you will have to lift heavy produce whilst loading a van, or from the van to the customer/warehouse. Even though carrying equipment is provided we find that this aspect can be underestimated therefore please consider this carefully before applying.
Key Responsibilities and Duties –
Assist the warehouse team in all areas of order fulfilment, primarily, but not limited to multidrop deliveries.
The duties include:
• Keeping delivery van clean and in working order
• Regular (non-mechanical) maintenance of the vans
• Collecting food donations from a variety of locations
• Delivering emergency food parcels to clients
• Delivering to local organisations
• Load/unload vehicle whilst in/out of premises
• Helping with stock control and rotation
• Helping with stacking and loading the orders
• Representing The Bay Foodbank in a professional manner, consistently delivering excellent customer service
• Develop relationships with local community champions/businesses with an aim to develop our support network further
Qualifications and Skills –
• Valid clean licence and practical driving skills
• Customer service skills
• Friendly, polite, approachable and non-judgemental
• People skills
• Manual handling skills (ability to lift and carry 16/25kg).
• Able to work as part of a team and independently

Remuneration –
• Salary: £12.82 per hour
• Auto-enrolment pension scheme
• Pro-rata annual leave entitlement
Job Type: Part-time, One year contract in the first instance.
