Summary

Are you looking for a varied role where no two days are the same?

Do you enjoy working with people at all levels?

Are you organised and able to prioritise workloads to maximise productivity?

If so, we'd love to hear from you!

You will work closely in a small, dynamic team where you will advise on and monitor the development and implementation of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency’s (DVLA’s) strategy, policies, processes and procedures in the areas of Pay, Reward, Pensions and Tax Compliance across the Agency.

This role involves working with a variety of internal stakeholders up to Executive Board level, colleagues within DfT and Civil Service HR, as well as external suppliers, ensuring quality, timescales and standards are met. Therefore, the role requires the ability to build effective working relationships, as you will be the contact point for pay and reward advice across the agency

You will need to be confident in analysing data, able to provide recommendations to stakeholders and be comfortable explaining and interpreting data to others in a clear and simplistic manner, whether that be in written or verbal format. You will also possess a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

This is a fantastic opportunity to become a 'subject matter expert' and contribute to decision making in Reward, Policy and wider-HR functions.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Providing advice and guidance on Pay, Policy and Reward, to internal customers throughout the Agency, ensuring that the Agency is prepared for any legislative and associated procedural changes that are required and that staff data held is accurate and is used appropriately.
  • Liaising with DfT agencies, DfT Group Reward Colleagues and other key stakeholders such as MyCSP, HMRC and external providers, to implement key changes and monitor processes relating to Pay, Policy and Reward, ensuring our policies and procedures meet business requirements, producing additional guidance where necessary to aid understanding.
  • Using appropriate Management Information (MI) to identify and monitor pay and reward issues and usage of staff benefits, analysing information and advising SEO on emerging trends, making recommendations for improvements.
  • Promoting and communicating pay, reward and recognition initiatives effectively across the Agency.
  • Completing associated annual tasks which provide assurance to Cabinet Office that DVLA is meeting its pay, pension and tax compliance obligations.

For further information about the role please see the attached role profile.

Additional Information

Applications will be accepted from full time/part time/job sharers. Full time roles at DVLA consist of 37 hours per week. Part time and/or flexible working may also be available subject to the needs of the business. If you have a flexible or part time working requirement, you should contact the vacancy holder in advance of making an application to avoid possible disappointment later in the process should your desired working arrangements not be compatible with the requirements of the role. To contact the vacancy holder, please use the job contact details listed under ‘Contact point for applicants’.

Great line management is important to us as an organisation, and we will equip and support line managers to develop the skills set out in the Civil Service Line Management Standards. We aim to empower line managers to create teams where people can flourish and deliver excellent outcomes for the public.

We welcome applications from candidates who can speak Welsh and English. Welsh language skills would be useful in this role, but it is not an assessment criterion so it won’t put you at any disadvantage during recruitment if you aren’t a Welsh speaker. Please note that the assessment process will be held in English.
