Ashford Campus, Surrey.

We are seeking an experienced Head of English and Maths, to lead on the development and delivery of high-quality English and maths
provision across the College. The postholder will lead a team of dedicated teachers and specialist practitioners, ensuring
excellence in teaching and learning and that every learner is empowered to succeed in English and maths to the best of their
ability.



About the role:



Your role will include, but not be limited to:

* Provide leadership and management, take a lead in promoting the College’s ethos and values and contribute to the strategic
planning of English and Maths.
* Ensure the delivery of excellence in teaching and learning for the English and maths provision (GCSE and Functional Skills),
championing best practice and innovation to ensure that learners develop their English and maths skills for their next steps.
* Working with the Directors of Curriculum, lead the timetabling process of English and maths across college to maximise the
efficient deployment of staff and other resources, together with ensuring that any planning and organisation places the
learning experience at the centre.
* Collaboratively with the Directors of Curriculum, ensure a relentless focus on English and maths to ensure that all learners
are enrolled on the appropriate level of programme and are attending English and maths, leading to successful learner outcomes.
* Lead on the quality assurance activities for GCSE and Functional Skills English and Maths, ensuring all awarding body
requirements are met.
* Develop and implement a meaningful continuous professional development programme for English and maths teachers to drive
improvements in the delivery of English and maths.



To fulfil the role of Head of English and Maths you will have:



* PGCE/Certificate in Education or equivalent
* Experience in a senior/management role managing English and maths within Further Education, with a proven track record of
improving student outcomes in English and Maths.
* Extensive knowledge of GCSE and Functional Skills English and maths qualifications, including curriculum, assessment procedures
and awarding body requirements.
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current and emerging technologies and their application in enhancing teaching,
learning, and assessment
* An awareness and understanding of contemporary curriculum and assessment developments
* A sound understanding of the Government agenda for education development and Ofsted
* Inspire colleagues, provide the support, direction and encouragement to enable staff to perform to their full potential
